Clan Hay has played an important role in the history and politics of Scotland with members found in most parts of Scotland. The clan descends from the Norman family of de la Haye and the progenitors of the Scottish clan were William II de Haya and his wife, Eva of Pitmilly.

Hay & Leith: Dating back to around 1819, this tartan was designed by Wilsons of Bannockburn to represent a marriage between the Hay and Leith families. The tartan is more commonly recognised as a Clan Hay tartan.
